Final Thoughts: Flip Flop

Final thoughts:
The project was fun and interesting. I like my outcome of this flip-flop building.
It's different from the original yet, it does still hold some similar feature that Villa Sarabhai has. If  only we had a little more time, I think I could of made it extremely opposite of the original.

The five points I choose for my final was:
1. House in a pool
2. Central circulation
3. Staggering floor plates
4. Floating roof/ceilings
5. Curving tube slide

(Top: final section, Bottom: some of the series of drawings I created with using the original floor plan)

The best part was doing the series of random drawings using the original floor plans and then arriving slowly incorporating  the 5 points.

Final Model:
Personally, I'm not a fan of model making...but I think this is pretty decent.

Plaster Cast:
Disappointing....the grey is the original cast.
Short story, broke it before final...so i cast a new layer to create the frame.

Conclusion:
Cast looks awful!
Maybe casting isn't for me...I'll stick to drawing

...last min thought before final was...I should of made all the solid voids...and vise versa..would of made my life easier.

Floor Plans:
I prefer to draw...so I like the floor plans.
