Second Attempt

This time I used Villa Sarabhai's plan to construct the collage. I mainly focused on the pool area.
Here's the ones I did from yesterday, I don't like them. The only rule I applied to creating the collage was that all the pool line must touch another line.

Process of cutting the pool

Sliding&Flip

Attempt 1 - Rule: Pool line must flow

Attempt 2 - Rule: Pool line must flow and include part of building

NEW SECTION I USED:
Attempt 3 - Rule: Connect Pool using horizontal, vertical, 45degree angles

Attempt 4 - Rule: 2 main line that runs through the building (not focus on pool anymore)
*This is my favorite for today

Plans & Sections Ideas that follow Attempt 4 Collage:

No more pool...now there's a green wall!

Ray Kappa's Work

I looked up this work and I guess good developing ideas comes from the mid-west! Just kidding, what do I know.

Ray Kappa, age 89, born in Minneapolis, MN.
One of his work is the Benton House
-Over lapping of spaces
-Horizontal and vertical elements.

Thoughts: Awesome home! Also I spy Ray Kappa on the upper left corner of the pic!

Final Thoughts: Flip Flop

Final thoughts:
The project was fun and interesting. I like my outcome of this flip-flop building.
It's different from the original yet, it does still hold some similar feature that Villa Sarabhai has. If  only we had a little more time, I think I could of made it extremely opposite of the original.

The five points I choose for my final was:
1. House in a pool
2. Central circulation
3. Staggering floor plates
4. Floating roof/ceilings
5. Curving tube slide

(Top: final section, Bottom: some of the series of drawings I created with using the original floor plan)

The best part was doing the series of random drawings using the original floor plans and then arriving slowly incorporating  the 5 points.

Final Model:
Personally, I'm not a fan of model making...but I think this is pretty decent.

Plaster Cast:
Disappointing....the grey is the original cast.
Short story, broke it before final...so i cast a new layer to create the frame.

Conclusion:
Cast looks awful!
Maybe casting isn't for me...I'll stick to drawing

...last min thought before final was...I should of made all the solid voids...and vise versa..would of made my life easier.

Floor Plans:
I prefer to draw...so I like the floor plans.

3D with a 2D Effect Attempt

Last week Wednesday night, I attempted to cast my plaster drawing and create a wire drawing. It's just a test, so the edges are not as clean. So far I like the casting affect...but now I just have to put more deals in it.

Plaster Cast - Site Plan (volume)

Object: Foam board with Duct Tape

1st attempt: FAILED cracked, the mix was not good, took it out too early

3rd Attempt: Cast form (left), Cast the negative of the form (right)

Wire: Thick wire and thinner wire....going to go with thick wire

Flip Flop Continues

Last week after many drawings of how I can interpret a floor plan to a section, I finally got my Flip Flop house together. It's creates a sacking affect.

Here's an axometric drawing of the volumes. On the side is drawings of the section and floor plans.
